Um....as long as we're talking semantics....one's
ability to transpose or not has NO BEARING on one's
being a synthesizer player or synthesist. The
skillset needed to be a synthesist revolves around the
manipulation of waveforms, envelopes, filters,
modulation routes, etc. A case in point would be
Utopia's Roger Powell (who has been talked about here
recently). He is a SYNTHESIST. He is also an
incredible player (check out Back to The Bars).
So...let's just call a spade a spade: If one "can't"
transpose, they just need to hone that skill; if one
WONT transpose, they're just....closeminded. lol
