Subject::) Boy I wished I hadn't mentioned the Transpose thing! lol
Hello all,
I figured I better get in here and address my transpose issue. hehe
I started transposing early on when I first started singing. I found
singing the blues is pretty hard to do early on, especially in
certain keys. So as a crutch, I began to depend on the transpose
function. For about the past two years I've concentrated a great deal
of time on vocals, and sadly not enough on the keys. However, I can
play in any key I sing in. This is fortunate considering the lack of
time I've put in playing in those odd keys. My concern for the
transpose function, as sad as it may seem, is that at this moment the
keys are the center of the band. Way before I started with my
interest in the blues, I played almost entirely early boogie-woogie
and rock n' roll, which is basically a whole bunch of songs from the
Jerry Lee Lewis / Pinetop Perkins genre. I did this from the age of
16 on to about 20. At this point however, my interest for playing the
blues has stifled my rompin' and poundin' piano days, well not
entirely, and taken a turn with eagerness to play the organ and
blues. Unfortunately, well maybe fortunately, everyone is still
looking for me to rip hard on the organ, which I really enjoy doing
anyways. The problem here is that my best performance keys are C, G,
F, and D. The best keys for my vocals are C#, Eb, and F#. I know,
weird huh? So in order for me to sing my best and play my best, I
sadly still occasionally transpose. If I had a period, like a year,
when I wasn't playing so much, or where I was backing someone else,
there would be a very good possibility I would better learn to play
in those keys.
So here's the deal, I'm still wondering if the CX3 will transpose,
and if it does, how easily? If it doesn't, will the VK7/8??
Appreciate it guys!!!! Thanks for your patience with me! :)
BTW....got a cool gig coming up in Brunswick GA opening for the Beach
Boys.....would really like to have the rig by then!
Thanks again,
-Vic
