Subject:compression
I've noticed at gigs that sometimes I sound a note louder than any other and it stands out. This is probably due to my sloppy playing but rather than put a hole in the sound engineers gear I'm thinging of using something to 'level' things out a little. To that end I've been researching compressors/pre-amps and I've seen some good reports about the Joe Meek stereo compressor. It uses optical something or others and sounds 'warm and punchy'. Has anyone got first hand experience of this bit of kit and do they think it will do what I need or is there another thing I should look at. I don't want a speakeasy, looks good but expensive, also from the spec I've seen won't 'tame' my load notes.
