Agreed. A laptop system capable of running a couple of VSTi (if you
are going to run B4 you might as well have something that can also
tun Lounge Lizard, Pro-52, Steinbergs minimoog etc) will cost more
than an Nord Electro by the time you've bought computer, soundcard,
software & midi-controller. It'll be cheaper, more portable, more
robust, easier to use, and more fun to buy a Nord Electro and a Nord
Lead (for example). Plus it'll look a lot better on stage.
What is interesting is a new breed of synths that can load software
plugins (such as Creamware Noah). It's just a matter of time before
we have a real hardware synth or rack that can load a VSTi plugin.
Then I won't hesitate a second.
