Subject:Re: [CWSG]Electro, CX3 etc,
Hey Dan, Clonewheelers.
I got to put my .02 in here.
The Electro does not hands down beat the CX3 and XK-2
most of what we read here is personal opinion and experience.
I own a CX3/BX3(new) and Electro, my views are different than
some previous posts. Here are my brief observations on both
Overall tone-the Electro is darker. more compressed
and has a basically pleasant sound. IMO the 8' drawbar
is too weak in the mid registers, the 5 1/3' too loud) upper
drawbars too soft. The V/C is excellent. The leslie effect
has too much pitch shift and I don't like it's effect on the
upper drawbars the CX3 is great in the fast speed. The CX3
has a much wider range of tonal capabilities, it sounds punchier,
fatter etc. and has more bite(if you want it) than the Electro.
Re:Perc. I find it very difficult to use the percussion (not much control)
I find the decay too fast in the short mode. The CX3 allows
you to tweak it to your taste and you can adjust the decay
time and volume. As far as layout, parameters etc. it's no contest
the CX3 is the more Hammond like and much more tweakable which
I appreciate. Overall I prefer the CX3/BX3 for the Hammond experience
a bit of (customizing) tweaking pays of with great dividends.
The Electro is a very well packaged keyboard I bought it primarily for the
Electric Piano's, light weight and as an add-on to the CX3.
I've done extensive testing of both in different situations
and I am definitely keeping my CX3. All of this is my personal
opinion and experience as I also had Electro envy for a while
but now that I've got it and have done a lot of comparing I am
definitely keeping the CX3, with the Electro as a companion.
