Subject:Re: Electro convert
Greetings everybody-
Glad to see some mail on this this morning!!!!
Eric-
I too have a similar set-up using an RD500, Then I use either a VK7 or M1
with a V5 thru it. Being that I come from the piano side, I like having
weighted keys for the piano. Also, experience has proven it's better(safer)
to have 2 axes than 1-(broken keys and things of that nature)However,I don't
feel uncomfortable using the Electro only for openers and things of that
nature.
As far as the robustness of the keys,it feels GREAT. I'm a pretty hard player
and I remember the first gig with the VK7 I had a key sorta laying on it's
side-kind of out of its track that I snapped back into place-but it did get
me wondering-WTF, and it's happened quite a bit since.The Electro I'm
confident won't be having any problems.
As far as "side wiggle" it seems fine. Everything I've played has side wiggle
to some extent- including my RD500-It just doesn't seem like it's an issue
with this piece.
The organ plays on all 73 keys-so those times when you wish you had just 1
more note...ya got it!
Drawbars I've had no problem getting used to...in fact when the lights were
down I've never been able to see the setting so easily. I find it an easy
adjustment going from the pushing and pulling of the drawbars to the buttons.
The only challenge I see is when you kinda do a wave or a swell with the
drawbars moving them in and out from left to right -I'll try it and let you
know....but it wasn't that often when I actually had the opportunity to do
that anyways. Tony commented on the preamp....I'm trying to think if I missed
anything.
Playing it is a sheer joy. Finding your way around it really isn't that big
of a deal and with 48 presets available you can get your favorite settings
dialed in and tweak from there. There's a song we do where I switch from clav
to organ and back to clav and I was concerened about the transition-thats
why I brought out the V5(midi into the RD500) and I just bounced between
presets and it was NO PROBLEM. I used the V5 a couple times around and used
the electro the rest of the song. Bottom line-I don't need to hook up the V5.
Hope this helps. Anything else let me know.
Bill
