Subject:Sonic balance

I believe on previous posts we've noted (not only as a musical issue but as an electronic issue) that notes in the higher register sound 'better' when given left-hand accompaniment (perhaps the same electronic issue goes for right hand + kicked bass).

Anyway, In almost all musical settings I enjoy my (VK-7's) higher register tones if they are accompanied even by the most simple of left hand, held notes.

The problem is, when I adjust the various controls to find a sweet spot for the right hand tones, these same settings unfortunately also bring about overbearing bass when my left hand comes in. So I subsequently am alarmed and a little embarrassed when in a band situation, instead of my left hand playing a nice layer, it blarringly announces: CARGO-SHIP "MAXIMUS-POSTERIORUS" -HAS-ARRIVED-AT-DOCK-B3.

Startled by the blast, I reactively push in the lower four drawbars a few clicks and lo and behold, the right hand notes have now lost some of their tonal magic.

To deal with this I'm trying to use the drawbars in strictly an additive sense and other controls such as tone knobs in my keyboard mixer & preamp in a mostly subtractive sense. This seems the be the most expedient solution but any suggestions are welcome.

At this time I suspect two things here. First, I think Bruce and others have taken care of things like this by not only having carefully thought out preamp set ups but also their power amp configurations. On that note, on the low-end solution side of life, I wonder what an old Fender Bassman goes for these days. Second, I suspect my above problem only moves a 'Speakesay' purchase even closer in my future.
