Subject:Re: side note: rotosphere samples

Hi Davide,

Just a side note here.

I once owned an H &K Rotosphere, that I had ordered along with my Clone--a
B-stock VK-7. I got the H&K because of the lukewarm reviews I read regarding
the VK's internal Leslie sim.

In addition and as a matter of good habit, I had in advance preformed a good
amount of Leslie Sim
research before making my choice. (Time frame: roughly 4 years ago.) My
VK-7 and Rotosphere were ordered from the same mail order house so they
arrived together.

I want to acknowledge that both before and since I received my Rotosphere,
it has garnered mostly strong praise from all my sources. That said, perhaps
my particular Rotosphere was physically defective. But at any rate its sound
was an utter disappointment.

Keep in mind, my post-purchase mentality: I had made my decision and had
shelled out the cash; I *wanted* to believe that I had made the right
decision.

But through both headphones and in band settings, my VK-7's internal sim was
much better. ...Probably hard to believe given some of the Clonemember's
previous comments on that subject.

Anyway, as a fellow member already stated, always try to get your hands on
products and try them out first. In a way you are taking a step in that
direction by requesting samples. The problem for many of us is that we don't
live in areas that have local access to these kinds of products.

Again, since the H&K is still receiving positive words,
I resigned myself to the view that mine simply needed to go back to the
factory, which it did. But because of time issues, I went with the VK's sim
for a couple of years and have since purchased a different Leslie sim that I
am pleased with.

Best

Galen
