Subject:Re: B4 MIDI problem...
I had an Edirol UA100G earlier this year, and it was nothing but trouble.
Usually I had to boot the machine 2 or 3 times before it would work
right--sometimes it would come up in a state where any sound it generated
was badly distorted, and sometimes the MIDI wouldn't work. SO I sold it
(for almost exactly what I paid for it) and started using the laptop's
internal sound. I'm not really happy with it, but it IS reliable.
One thing I discovered, however: When I bring up the clone rig, I have to
power up the Roland A70 first, then the Doepfer Pocket Fader unit, then
bring up the B4 program. If I forget & do the A70 last, it messes up the
computer's head, and I have to reboot it to straighten things out.
Apparently something in the computer does not like whatever the A70 sends
out to initialize the MIDI bus. The result is that the B4 does not
respond to external MIDI input--it seemed like the MIDI In port was being
disabled or something.
HHHHHHHHHHHMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM......
Mitch;
Are you bringing up the B4 software first, then turning on your MIDI
keyboard? If so, try bringing up the software last. Don't even boot the
computer until everything else is up & running.
