IMO you would like the Speakeasy. It shapes your sound
more like a Hammond because it's designed to replicate
a B-3 preamp. People always complain about digital
edginess or lack of "balls" in the midrange when using
clones. The Speakeasy will almost certainly fix that.
It adds a "creaminess" (no other way to describe it)
to your sound that really stands out. Really brings
out a palm gliss well. Also, you can cut through a mix
without too much trouble without having to turn up to
11! 8^) I hear complaints about a lack of headrom in a
loud band al of the time. Well, my band is pretty
loud, but I definately have no problems. I can play a
section at 800000008 & still be heard easily.
The Speakeasy may not be cheap, but I haven't seen a
single post with anything negative to say about the
preamp or about Speakeasy in general. Great product &
great people! The SVP has made the difference beteween
me being able to play gigs with a clone or not.
Speakeasy Vintage tube preamps - don't play a clone
without one. (Did I sound enough like a commercial?)
Seriously though, I really like mine & IMO you would
too, as others will most certainly tell you.
