Subject:Re: Getting To know the CX3
Yes, i agree totally with what you say Eric,
I've also noticed this lack of cut in the high end, especially after
adjusting the internal EQ to get rid of the shrillness. Adding the
Speakeasy helps but does not entirely remove the problem. I've never
been 100% happy at a gig with the CX3 and MS rig, and i've now sold
the MS rig. The MS rig was better with my old Hammond XB1 in some
respects, apart from the drawbar beating on tremelo.
I've found that the best results with the CX3 has been while using
the internal sim, and a big, old, valve guitar amplifier, apart from
a real Leslie of course.. the CX3 really kicks through a Leslie.
One thing i have found is that adjusting the internal Leslie sim
params can have a radical effect on the sound, and by balancing the
horn/rotor slightly in favour of the horn and setting the distance of
the horn MIC higher than the rotor, does seem to improve the mid/high
without re-introducing the shrill top.
Regards
Dave
