Its my understanding that v2 has waterfall keys. Just for the visual
appeal, you might want to wait, but the rounded lips on v1 allow palm
smears, glisses, etc., so its perfectly playable. As far as at least
having a v1 upgraded to v2, I would say a definate yes. V2 has more
mellow upper register tones, that quite frankly encourage you to use
the upper octaves rather than the way v1 sorta punished you, in
hindsight. Can't put into words, but the leslie sim is somehow even
better in v2. V2 also alows you to disable the speaker effect for
more preamp possibilities while still using the leslie sim, and has a
host of other slick conveniences. Conversely, v2 tamed the
vibrato/chorus perhaps too much. In some ways, for certain tunes,
this is better, but I think I prefer v1's vibrato/chorus overall. I
go back and forth on that one. If I were in your shoes, and they were
getting you a v1, I would at least have Guitar Center upgrade it to
v2, if not wait for the actual v2 with its waterfall keys. I saw a
post on this group where someone already has a genuine v2. Persue it!
