Enjoy the show! It was great! I agree with Eric on
the high note for the night. They were stopped,
discussing what to play next & I hollered out
"Birdland"...Novello didn't miss a beat (the fellow
clonewheelers & I were only a few feet away, so we
could see & hear well) & went right into it. Sweet!
Midway through Sheehan even did the cool harmonics
lead line he did in the DVD "Blood Sweat & Beers". He
didn't play it as well as on the DVD, but "not as
good" for him is still totally SMOKIN'!! John also
told us later that a CD of the Japan show featured in
that DVD will be out soon with 4 extra songs.
It was really cool to talk to him afterwards. He
really is a nice guy & he seemed happy to talk
Hammonds with us. It was cool to hear the details of
his rig directly from the source. I had gotten the
impression that the Azztec B-3 he was playing was also
his (he mentioned that it had some of the mods that
his chop had, but no MIDI) & that he kept it on this
coast & the chop on the west. Eric could be right
about it being a rental though. Not sure.
It was also cool to catch up with fellow
clonewheelers Randall G. & Eric L. A show like this is
always better when you have other people around to
enjoy it with. I can safely say that a good time was
had by all. If you have the chance to go hear Niacin
live - GO!! 8^)
