Subject:Re: Electro output/speakeasy/145 Leslie
Me too. I run my CX3/classic/145 with the 145 on say 7 and the
classic on full volume. This produces plenty enough grind for me.
I still find the CX3's top octave to be too thin though, and the more
grind you introduce, the thinner it gets. I might start experimenting
more with the PreAmp Amp Type as this seems to be less prone to this
problem. It's almost as if there is a range of frequencies that drop
off on the last octave, there's still a really high, shrill sound but
the meat of the CX3 tone on the top octave just disapears the more
the sound distorts.
I've tried micing the Leslie and using eq to boost the mids and the
high mids but it doesn't really help much. I know that this is one of
the reasons why you swapped your CX3 for the Electro Tony but i'm
wondering if this problem is related to the Amp Types and the way
they emulate tube gain. I haven't tried using the Pre Amp setting in
a loud band session, has anyone tried this? I know it's the setting
that Korg recommend when using a real preamp/leslie, anyone tried
this?
