Subject:God help the Neighbors-The Speakeasy Pre is in my house!

Holy Moses!!! I shall be released.
I received my 147 Speakeasy preamp today. Exactly when it was
supposed to be here. Imagine that?
I have to admit to being one of the world's worst skeptics and really
cynical about most things I don't have in front of me.
I've been reading all about the Speakeasy stuff since I got on the
Clonewheel list.
I called Steven Hayes last week and had a short conversation with him
about his product. This was after I attempted to remedy the BX3 gain
problem with a Behringer tube preamp. HA!!! I jumped in right after
speaking with Steven who told me he would gladly take the unit back
if I didn't like it.
I took the Behringer back today BEFORE I got home to find that my
Speakeasy pre was here.
A little short-cut here to tell you a bit about Steven and his
company. I know that I'm preaching to the choir here but some of you
won't know this and you should.
Steven e-mailed me the very next day after I ordered the pedal and
asked that I call him when I received the pedal. Apparently, an
unecessary little jumper wire was soldered across two volume
terminals on my pedal. Nothing to cause any alarm but something that
needed to be removed so the volume pot would work properly.
I got home, called Steven, we fixed the offending wire in a few
seconds and VOILA!!
MAN-THIS M.F. SCREAMS IT'S ASS OFF.
Should I say it again for those of you who didn't hear me?
There is absolutely no way I can run this puppy wide open. NO WAY.
I'll be blowing tweeters right and left. The volume is at 11:00 or
NNE and it's way loud.
This thing SHAMES the TREK II pedal. I know I'm going to try and
sell mine on e-bay so forget what I just said.
If I had only known then what I know now I may not have bought the
BX3 and kept my VK7 which was rather anemic with the Trek II.
My second response to Steven after we got the jumper fixed was HOW IN
THE WORLD, OR, WHY WOULD ANYONE WANT TO ADD THE "HOWLER" TO THIS
THING. It's deadly as it is. My B3 never sounded like this through
the same Leslie. YEAH-it's THAT GOOD!!! The damn thing is rattling
like a pissed off diamond back.
I am 50 years old and love to rock n' roll. I love a warm big Hammond
sound and a Brian Auger grinder when I need it. The Speakeasy that I
have will easily do both and I did not get the Howler.
Needless to say, I'm a very happy camper. VERY HAPPY!!
Steven is a great guy and businessman. He's got a great product and
he knows his stuff.
You can bet I'll definitely do business with him again when the time
comes.

love it!!!
