Cover their ears? He drove me out of the hall! And I heard some pretty
load bands back then; Deep Purple, Zepplin, Blue Cheer... NO band was as
loud as Lee Michaels! He hit the high C and I felt my teeth melt! I made
it through one song and listed to the rest of his set a half mile away.

I'm not completely sure, but I heard he was from Merced, Calif.,
which is just up highway 99 from me here in Central Cal. Man that guy
had some lungs on him, not to mention the wall of 260A Acoustics and
the 360 bass amps on the ends. I watched lots of people cover their
ears at those concerts.
