Subject:Re: I love my CX3!
I guess I need to add my two cents worth. I'm very very impressed with my CX3!! I started playing Hammonds with groups about 27 years ago beginning with a model L100. I also have a mint condition B3/122 in my living room that I enjoy. My CX3 is a real blast to play live!!! All the musicians I play with constantly comment on how great it sounds. As a matter of fact it has improved my live playing in many ways, especially with the fast key action. I know it was expensive for Korg to do the R&D on these keyboards and I hope it pays off for them in the long run. After hearing mine, three keyboardist friends have purchase one. I have to say it's the first keyboard I have puchased in a long time that I am completely 100% delighted with. I play mine though my personal monitor system and straight to the main board. I really don't get that excited about some brightness etc in some areas simply because the house mix does add or take away from the sound, just like it would if you were miking a real Leslie. I have had a problem with a broken counterweight that concerns me and I'm also looking forward to the update to experience the changes. I'm not sure how to approach the counterweight problem at this point, I"m guessing more about it will show up. It's going to be a wait and see thing. Overall I am very please.

Iv'e been lusting for the vintage epianos, and seem convinced through
trying them out, listening to samples, & also reading posts, the Nord
is the best thing out there for vintage epianos. There may be cheaper
options, but I'd rather wait and get it right the first time than
settle for second best. Likewise, thats how definately how I feel
about a Hammond clone as I gave up the real thing. So I revisited the
notion of getting the Nord for both vintage epiano & Hammond because
its very close on the Hammond side and far cheaper than keeping the
CX-3 and the Nord. The nord, in my mind, even has better
Chorus/Vibrato, definately better amp simulation, and a more
compressed sound for at least some applications. But the CX-3
(especially with the mellow drawbars and somehow even better Leslie
sim, as well as other usefull tweaks in v2.0) just seems to damn
authentic (sans amp) to walk away from. This is even before
considering its controls, layout, look, and overall feel. Thats why
I'm going to get the Electro rack & definately keep the CX-3 as my
primary Hammond, damn the cost of doing it right!
