Subject:Hey folks, I got a ...
... CX-3.
It was down to CX-3 or Nord for some time, but here's how I chose:
- the CX-3 had two sets of real drawbars
- the CX-3 controls were laid out pretty-much like my A-105... I noticed
the Nord controls were a bit tight but hadn't really thought about it till
someone else mentioned it.
- the CX-3 included the expression pedal (re-packaged FC-7)
- I won't be using the piano voices.
- The Leslie sim sounds better than I remembered it on a previous
display model.
- Prices were comparable (VK-8 was $150 less).
- I'm not a gigging musician (probably won't be), so the weight and size
difference isn't as big an issue as I thought.
Will I regret picking the CX-3 ? Probably not. If the prices weren't
comparable might I have chosen differently ? Maybe.
Incidentally, it looks like I couldn't get the Korg to put percussion on the
left either... but I knew that up-front.
I'm happy (-: of course now I have:
- A-105 (the guy I bought it from expressed some regrets about the sale).
- L-295 (my "little old lady" one-owner spinet, I'm keeping that
indefinitely).
- CX-3
- Motion Sound Pro-3T and LowPro (if the A-105 goes, then this will
go to my church most likely, there's no Leslie on their A-100).
- Assorted other keyboards & MIDI stuff acquired over the years.
- B-4 on the laptop, along with a MIDI interface. I just couldn't take this
seriously for my use, but it's great to play along with or feed MIDI's
into. I also have Band in a Box to play with.
Thanks for the input, everyone!
Doug
