When the OB-5 came out, it was not a bad sounding organ. The problem was they
used one sound generator, and if you played the same notes on both manuals it
would geek and cancels notes out. The chorus was totally off. It was a
disaster for Oberheim. Plus they put no protection in the boxes, so the
instruments arrived trashed from our great UPS. They were talking of detuning
somehow the bottom manual full cent to cure the note cancelation problem, but
I don't know if that issue was ever resolved.
