If you are playing left-hand bass and turn the amp volume up very
high and the speaker (and amp) is of sub-par quality, I guess you
could harm the speaker. Otherwise it should be fine.

A note: I recently bought a small used 100W Polytone tube combo
amp that has a 12" speaker and it sounds great! I use it for EP,
Clav, and synth, and I also occasionally use my CX-3 with it and it
sounds very fat and punchy. Plus this amp is very L-O-U-D!!!! I got
it for $265 USD at a used gear store. It makes the synth solos in
particular sound amazing.

As Cornelia mentioned, keyboard amps usually use a 15" speaker
and a tweeter. This is especially needed if you are playing a
digital piano sound or if you use a lot of synth pads, since these
sounds have a lot of brilliant highs and also low lows, and sound
better with a non-guitar style amp. The Polytone tube amp I
described above is intended for guitar I assume. It would sound
pretty clunky when used with an acoustic piano sample. For rhodes
and synth leads it sounds really great though, it sounds good for
pads, and the organ sounds very good through it too.
