For a couple hundred bucks you should be able to find an older Voce Spin or Korg simulator. A bunch of the older multi-effects units by people like Boss, Ensoniq, etc. had Leslie simulators built in (as well as reverb and tons of other things). I'll bet you could find one of those pretty cheap. If you are just playing in your basement, go to some Piano/Organ stores. There are tons of those little Leslie speakers with one rotor around cheap. But, if I remember, the old CX-3's simulator wasn't all that bad itself!

Subject: [CWSG] Budget Leslie sim
A few months ago, after years of not playing organs, I bought a
vintage CX-3 and a used Peavey KB-100 amp. Having a great time in my
basement with this (I love cranking it up and playing along with
Santana CDs!). It's pretty much all I want/need, given that my
musician days are long over, but I'm wondering whether for a
relatively small investment in a used Leslie simulator (maybe a
couple hundred $$), I might greatly improve the sound.
A few questions:
Since the old Korg is analog, would it be incompatible with some
simulators?
Given that I'm not going to gig with this, I'm not looking for a
setup that would fool a B-3 owner in a blindfolded test. I'd just
like something that would sound significantly better than the Korg's
built-in simulation. Any such products to recommend that could be
had for a few hundred dollars? (And anyone have one for sale?)
Or would I just be wasting my money trying to improve the vintage CX-
3 sound? Am I better off saving my money for a new CX-3 or something
else more modern?
Thanks...
