Subject:Re: Budget Leslie sim

The only benefit of a simulator over the real deal Leslie if you are
not about to gig with the thing, is if your better half keeps asking
you to turn that thing off, or if you like to play at all hours.
Then a simulator comes into its own as you can don your phones and
play away. My favourite sim is the Dynacord CLS222 as it captures the
tone and rake up/down and sounds entirely musical with good slow and
fast simulation and although a bit elderly, these can still be found
on ebay from time to time, especially www.ebay.de. ( German site )

Alesis have a new sim about to be released for around $100 , the
Vertigo, and they advertise it as being a world-class simulator.
I believe the Korg G4 is entirely digital. They have been popular but
I never liked the fast speed which sounded more like vibrato to me
rather than tremelo. The Korg gives a good woody tone though. I like
the fast speed on the Voce Spin but at slow speed it is a bit phazey.

If I lived in the States, I would go for the Motion-Sound 4U rack-
mount with built-in mics ( although this is not exactly budget ) as I
believe this to be very authentic by all accounts as it features a
true rotating treble horn which shifts air inside a sound proof box.
Only the bass is simulated. This provides the opportunity for late
night sessions too. I am thinking of importing one myself as
I really would like to get close to the sound of my 145 in the
lounge, which doesn't get played too often as it has to compete with
TV and sundry other activities.

friendly folks at Customs and Excise.
