I got there early and was prepared to take advantage of the nearest
thing to silence that I could. Plus, the salesmen, even though they
knew nothing about the pieces in question, tried to keep the kids out
of my way because they could see I was going to buy something.
It's hard to judge the sound of keyboards accurately because the
sound is so dependent on the reproduction system. I ended up trying
PA speakers, crappy speakers, and headphones, with more reliance on
the first than the last. Of course, ideally I'd rather check things
out with a good direct box and amp going into Genelecs, but they
didn't give me the opportunity. But I played with the things for 2
hours or so and I'm confident I picked the unit that *I* like best.
So - nobody else has mentioned double bounce on the VK-8. Maybe the
unit I tried was the only problematic one?
