Subject:Gigging with more than 2 keyboards - best stage setup?
Folks,
I have gigged for a long time with just 2 keyboards...an 88 note
piano keyboard and a B3 clone stacked on an Invisible stand. I have
been using a Nord Lead for the last 6 months, but it only comes out
occasionally. I had been stacking it up on top of my XK2 (see photos
in the rig files on CW site).
I have figured out a way to stack the RD600, CX3 and Nord all on top
of one another using the same Invisible stand, but it is an unwieldy
rig and I can hardly reach the Nord to play it and tweak the knobs.
One solution is to have the Nord sitting at an "L" on one side of me,
but then I have to reach over that way to play it. Tonight at
rehearsal I left the CX3 at home and used the RD and Nord on top of
one another. This was like a breakthrough as I had such close
control over the Nord. So now I am thinking about having the RD and
Nord together and the CX3 sitting on the "L"...it's a tough call.
Most pros that use a real B3 have it all by itself with the other
keys set up in an "L" or "U" configuration, but I don't always have a
lot of space on stage, especially in the 10-piece band.
Who else uses 3 or more keyboards on the gig and how do you do it? I
am thinking about how small a footprint I can use on stage and also
stay visible while having maximum ergonomics. Any other experiences
are appreciated.
Regards,
Eric
