I like Steve's idea of a magnetic weighting. The trick, of course,
would be to model the key resistance characteristics which Bruce
described so elegantly. I believe that spring action has more
resistance as the spring is compressed. Piano action, on the other
hand (pardon my pun), has initial resistance (weight) but moves
easily once it is set in motion. But, I'd bet it could be mimicked
with a program to vary the magnetic resistance as Steve suggests.
