I had the chance to play CX-3 and VK-7 together for quite a few weeks. I'd say that neither sounds 'better' than the other. The CX is brighter and thinner, the VK is fatter. Both Leslie effects are great. The CX's sounds farther away, the VK's sounds closer. The VK has the other instruments (which I rarely used) the CX has the extra drawbars (which I rarely used). I didn't love the sound of either out of the box, but tweaking some stuff I found excellent B-3's in both. With my playing style, the type of keys made no difference. Like I mentioned before, by doing some tweaking, you can make them sound pretty much the same. When I had to decide which to keep, I chose the VK. It came down to the VK's close miked Leslie effect and its distortion (both of which I love). I'd wait until the VK-8 hits the stores and grab a VK-7 as they're being gotten rid of more cheaply.

CX3 or just go ahead and buy a vk7 at todays prices?

Is Roland going to discontinue this product or just
keep selling it?

Does Korg have any other option but to sell the CX3
lower than todays price in the near future? I just
could not put myself to buy this board back when it
was priced at $1999.99, when the only sound it could
produce was the organ sound, no offence to people that
own one. But at $999.99, I would definitely buy one.

So should one settle for the vk7 or wait?
