Yeah I thought that the VK-77 was great when I played it. However
with respect, I suspect that the registration lock button was
something that they added on after they had designed the rest of it
because they realised they had a problem with where they had sited
the buttons. Also, they couldn't come up with any creative ideas as
to where else they should be (why not at the side of the manual in
reverse colour keys ??).
This sounds like a classic case of solving the symptom of the
problem and not the problem itself. The problem is where the
buttons are. Solution is to move the buttons, not disable them with
another button surely ? And what about the location of the disable
button. Is that easy to knock as well. Maybe there should be a
button to disable the disable button. Call it 'registration disable
button disable button' perhaps ?
That the majority of 'Test drivers' made the same mistake is
reasonable evidence that it is flaw in the user interface design.
What exactly did Roland think was so wrong about Hammond's original
design I wonder...
