Seems the main thing is - what exactly is that Hammond sound! Everybody has in mind how they want their Hammond (or clone) to sound. I used to gig with a Hammond X77 and Sharma 5000, sounded great to me but everyone wanted me to get it to sound like Steve Winwood and I just couldn't, but for the Ska band I also played with the sound was spot on.
I play an Electro now - its taken me a bit of getting used to because like a lot of worthwhile instruments it's not the same as most of the others. I also gig with my Trinity which has lots of sampled Hammond sounds from Sonic Implants - these sound great too but they are completely different to the sounds from the Electro. I wouldn't recommend the Electro to a jazz player 'coz you can't really get a jimmy smith sound that you can believe in. You can get some great Pink Floyd huge chords with tons of movement in them or if John Lord is your thing look no further.
I had a Roland VK8 for the weekend recently and was blown away by the organ sounds but couldn't get the kind of general sound that you came back to time and time again. It's all down to what your ears think a Hammond should sound like.
Also to defend the Electro from some of the slating it been getting. I didn't buy it for the electric piano sounds but over the last few month I've got to the point where I don't think I could go out to a gig without the Wurli Electric Piano sound. I don't care whether it's close to the original or how many cross faded samples were used. At a live gig the sound cut through the mix and sound just beautiful, the keyboard feel is just right to be able to lay into it, the response to expression in your playing at volume is wonderful. I've had more complements from the audience since I started giging with the Electro three months ago than I have had in the last three years and I didn't suddenly get better - I just got a better instrument.

What's the point in having a clone if you need a real B-3 on hand to make it sound right? Or a Fender Bassman, for that matter?
imho, the CX-3 wins because it makes a good attempt to capture the vaguaries of the pre-amp/amp/leslie combination. I love it because I need to play it through a full-range system, like most people these days. I don't want to carry a dedicated amp!
