Subject:Re: Nord Electro impressions
Funny enough, I have come full circle on this "gear fussing" issue
and I have to side with Dan at this point in my gigging career. It
was not one year ago that I was carry a Leslie 122 to almost all
gigs, in addition to separate stereo amplification for the other
keyboard sounds.
When not carrying the 122, I would always have a Motion Sound KBRm.
I have a Speakeasy, but mainly use it for preamping my Leslie.
Ever since I bought the new CX3 and tried its internal Leslie on a
gig when my KBRm was acting up, I have been pretty much sold on it as
an "all in one" solution. At this point, I am using it all the time
with no external rotary stuff. This was unthinkable when I was still
using the XK2.
I still carry a sizable rig, but my amp of choice is now the Motion
Sound KT80, which is plenty loud as a stage monitor and actually
gives me some tube growl for the CX3. I enjoy having all the Leslie
controls right there and customizing each sound within the organ
rather than fussing with a lot of outboard gear.
I have not yet tried the Electo, so I can voice no opinions on this
unit. But I am very pleased with the CX3 (other than the double-
bouncing keys and required MIDI bypass). I plan to use it for some
time to come. I occasionally get nostalgic for the old XB2, but it
passes.

Eric

leslie, etc. but that's not important to me. I'm so happy w/the way
it sounds NAKED that I have zero interest in the extra setup,
teardown and hauling.
