Subject:Re: Yamaha RA-70
I thought I would share some info about the RA-50 that I have since
people are interested in the RA-70. 23"W x 36"H x 12"D with a tube
chrome metal frame and casters. About 80 lbs total package. The
frame is removable, but also designed so that you can raise the
cabinet another 18" off the floor. The RA-50 has less power, solid
state (it also uses that "infamous" "ear" shaped 60 watt Yamaha bass
speaker that Fender used in the Bantam Bass cabinet) as well as less
control. Volume, bass, treble, tremelo speed, Leslie style external
speaker out and remote foot switch. The slow speed is constant, very
similar to a Leslie and the high speed is adjustable almost down to
the slow speed. The foot switch is two button which toggles between
the fixed "ear" shaped speaker and the rotating horn (just like the
RA-70 vertically mounted). The other switch activating high speed
which "ramps up" very similar to a Leslie. (Trying hard not to offend).
With the speed control in reach you can double this amp with piano
sounds and either use the slow speed as a stereo chorus or adjust the
high speed down to a faster stereo chorus.
If your out playing alot with a stereo PA, I don't think you can beat
this one in the "feather weight" catagory.
