Ok, since i got this damn thread started by my critique of H/S not
keeping their ear to the ground, let me just say this..

9 contact key switch technology IS an important element of producing
a real B3 feel and sound, read the earlier posts on palm glisses on
clones. Flash ROM is also a great feature as it makes upgrades a
cinch, (not the case with a CX3/BX3 apparently).
However, for these additional features i doubt that many people will
shell out even $10,000+. Maybe there are churches that have the
disposable income to do so.... charity begin at home and all that,
but i wouldn't bet on it.

If i was CEO of H/S i'm not sure i'd bother with the new B3, ok so
it's the Rolls Royce of organs, but look what happenend to them, they
are now owned by BMW i think, and most people prefer a top of the
range Mercedes anyway.
If i could specify my perfect 'concept' organ, it would have the
following features:

1) It would have Hammond written on it.
2) It would have 2 manuals (and a seperate pedal engine)
3) It would not weigh more than 100kg
4) It would fit in an estate car
5) It would sound and play like a B3/C3 (the CX3 is pretty close
already IMO, but a 9 contact key switch is one of the missing
ingredients)
6) It would have a wood finish like the BX3 and the ergonomics the
same as a B3.
7) It would not cost more than $5k
8) It would have a tube pre amp built in
9) It would have a Leslie Sim (after the pre amp stage) that was at
least the equal of the CX3/BX3 sim.
10) It would have a built in Leslie interface for use with the real
thing.

If H/S ever come up with something like this, it would wipe the floor
with the competition. Ok $5k is still a lot of money but i'm sure a
lot of serious Hammond and Clone players would consider digging deep
for such an instrument. H/S have a head start as they have the name,
the history and the technology, i dont understand why they're not
going head to head with Korg and Voce. The CX3/BX3 are not cheap for
what they are.. but they are selling, the new Voce will also sell i
have no doubt of it.. and i can't see why anyone would buy a new XK2
now, given the plethora of superior alternatives?
