Subject:1983 - Korg's BPX-3 unit for pedal tones

Here's an interesting tidbit for you. All this talk about the BX-3
and CX-3's non-support of pedal tones reminded me of a blast from the
past. I just pulled out a vintage Korg catalog from 1983 and found
this product alongside the original CX-3 and BX-3. I have never seen
one on the used market, but imagine it could serve some people well.
Here's what was in the catalog:

"BPX-3 Bass Unit & PK-13 Pedal Keyboard

The Compact Bass Pedal System with Harmonic Synthesis for Superb
Sound Quality

The Korg BPX-3 bass unit is a new type specially developed to meet
the demands of Korg BX-3, CX-3 and other electronic organ players.
Built-in oscillator circuitry allows the BPX-3 to be used as an
independent bass unit not only with organs but with any musical
instrument. Superb tone color is assured by the harmonic synthesis
technique proven in the BX-3 and CX-3. Unlike conventional
electronic organs, this produces a rich bass sound that can be
tailored to match a wide variety of music. The BPX-3 bass unit has
four tone modes, attack, sustain and percussive click noise controls,
plus EQ, pitch and volume controls. This assusure considerable
versatility for every musical application."

The photo shows a small unit with woodgrain sides and a bunch of
knobs and buttons just like those on the old CX-3 and BX-3. Looks
like it was made to perch up on top of the organ. Very cool vibe.
The pedal board has 13 pedals and weighs 7.5 kg.

Looks like Korg needs to revive the BPX-3 unit!!!!!! How about it,
Jerry???

(No, this is not a belated April fool's gag).

Regards,
Eric
