What the band I am in uses a voltage regulator, and that is what you
want. There are a number of boxes that are called line conditioners,
but if it isn't called a regulator, it probably won't do exactly that.
A voltage regulator will keep the output voltage constant (this one has
9 ac outlets), at what is it, 120 volts, or maybe it is 117 (this is
the Furman AR-117), regardless of what it is plugged into. Of course,
if the voltage drops below or above a certain amount (maybe 90 to 140
volts?), it shuts down, it isn't magic, but this has worked like a
charm for years. They have replaced the AR-117 with a new model, and
have some more expensive ones as well, but expect to pay $400 -- $500
for the cheapest.
