I too had a VK-7. And, yes, if you tapped it on the top at the right
hand end, anywhere within a foot of the area above the power
connection, it would flick off and come back on again. I had it
totally resoldered. You'd be amazed how much gear these days has
problems becasue of simple things like soldering being shoddily done.
Anyway it basically fixed the problem - very occasionally it would
recur, but only rarely.
