What's worse is when it happens INDOORS! I played a gig at a club in
Christiansburg, VA that had a second story balcony over the stage. It
was one of those log-cabin construction places, with gaps in the
flooring. Halfway thru our first set one night, something started
raining down on me and my gear. When I realized it wasn't stopping, I
quickly covered my stuff with a tarp I carry everywhere (yes, even to
indoor gigs) while the band played on. Then I noticed the "rain" was
pink and sticky. The folks sitting above the stage had spilled a
pitcher of strawberry margaritas on the floor and it was running thru
the floor onto my stuff.
During our break, our singer complained to the manager, who gave us a
look like, "So?"
Anyway, after the margaritas stopped dripping, I pulled off my tarp,
wiped everything off, and checked out all my gear -- everything
seemed okay.
Then, a few minutes into the second set, it started raining on me
again! But this time, it was water! The manager had sent someone
upstairs to mop the floor!!! Needless to say, the band played several
more songs without me, and we never went back to that club.
