Subject:RE: Not Jerry Corbetta on Green Eyed Lady

Well, there's nothing like going to the source, so I tracked down Jerry
Corbetta's email address and asked him directly; with any luck he'll reply
soon and we can all go back to our day jobs. I saw Sugarloaf here in
Springfield right after GEL came out (the guitar player even had on the same
dorky purple open-net shirt he wore on the album cover) and Corbetta was
just smokin'; doesn't make any sense for anyone else to have played on the
studio version.

I'd also heard the Bernard Purdie rumors long ago and after seeing him in
Aretha Franklin's band I don't believe there's any way he could have "Anglo
sized" himself enough to play on any Beatles tracks - Bernard's just TOO
funky. BTW, my favorite Purdie drumming is on Steely Dan's "Royal Scam",
very tasty.

To read Mike Pinera's bio on the Classic Rock All Stars' (his band with
Corbetta) website, you'd swear he had a something to do with IAGDV, but
since he didn't even join Iron Butterfly until three albums later this is
just a lot of sloppy, inaccurate hype. Yet, when the All Stars play and
they all take turns with their respective "hits", Pinera cranks out IAGDV
like it's his. Does this crap bother any of you as much as it bothers me?

Another rocker Hammond player to add to the list I just thought of: Raul
Matute of ColdBlood out of S.F., another band that should have been a whole
lot bigger than they got.
