I put a new plug on the end of the FC-7 pedal (per Bruce's
instructions, with the reversed tip and ring wires) and it works
great on my Roland XP-50. Radio Shack has a gold stereo 1/4"
plug with screws inside, so you don't even have to solder the
wires if you don't want to (although I did). Good luck.

Basically, the wiring to the first two connections on the plug (tip
and ring) are reversed between Yamaha and Roland.
