Subject:Re: Favourite rock organists (realudio!)
I got to thinking that with all this talk about this great organ part and that great lead, it would be really nice if there were some audio to go along with all of this; words can only take us so far. I've decided to take the first step by putting up realudio tracks of just a few of the tunes I've mentioned. Hopefully some other folks on the list will do the same (hint hint). I know that what I'm posting will be old news to many of the list members. But I'm working on the assumption that there are at least a few interested people on the list who have never heard some or all of his stuff. So: There are 4 tracks, each of them a complete tune. In realaudio. They are:
Deep Purple - "The Painter" from their third album (1969)
Lee Michaels - "Stormy Monday", from his third album (1969)
Bob Seger System - "Ramblin Gamblin Man", with Bob Schultz on organ (thanks to Al for the identification)(1968).
And for the sheer thrill of it, there's also Danny Gatton and Joey DeFrancesco doing "The Chess Players" from the "Relentless" album (1994).
Links to all of them are at: http://pow-wowcentral.com/hammonds.htm
I hope these play ok, but let me know if you run into problems.
There's also a link there to another music page that features a few mp3's of Larry Goldings, Joe Krown, and couple others. Enjoy.
