Subject:Re: Roland KC300
I use a KC300 with a Pro3T and Hammond XB1 and here's what i've
found. In my experience iv'e found a problem with the bass response
from the combination of XB1 and Pro3T. I don't know if this is
peculiar to my KC300 or the combination of XB1 and Pro3T. If i run
the XB1 straight into the KC300 it's fine, but if i use the Pro3T,
dial up the gain to say 11 o clock and turn up the KC to gig volume
the speaker on the KC300 sounds like it is going to jump out of the
cabinet. I can ease the situation a bit by turning the Low right off
on the KC and by reducing the separation on the Pro3T but this
creates a problem for me with piano and synth as i like a lot of bass
response for that, furthermore, i like lots of separation on the
Pro3T. I don't think this is necesarily the fault of the KC300 to be
honest as i've tried the same combination with an old 15inch H/H bass
guitar amp and the same thing occurred. I think it's more likely to
be a problem with the XB1 combined with the Pro3T. The XB1 is very
bassy and when you add some tube gain into the equation at volume, it
nearly shakes the power amp to pieces. In other words, it might
depend on what clone your using (and some EQ might help). Personally
i like the KC300, it's loud, its clear, it's stereo and i use it to
pre mix the pro3t by feeding the horn Mic and the low sim into the
unit and then out to the FOH. I also love the Pro3T but there is a
limit to how loud i can use this setup without compromising the basic
sound.
