I've heard some stories about Lee Michaels' shows and his unbelievable
volume. Unfortunately one of my greatest disappointments was seeing Lee
Michaels ca. 1970 at C.W. Post College on Long Island (NY). I lived nearby at
the time, and CWP got all kinds of great acts. I was really psyched to see
him. "Barrell", heavy on piano, had just come out, but my friends and I were
convinced he'd still be playing organ live. After arriving about 2 hours late
he played only piano, with Frosty on drums and a bass player hidden backstage
behind a partition. I remember an audience-pleasing "Heighty Hi", but with no
organ I went home an pretty unhappy camper that night.
