Subject:Rock Organ Influences

Along with most everyone already mentioned, these are mine (excuse me
for not knowing names):

Seth Justman - J. Geils Band
Organist on Bob Seger Silver Bullet Band - Live Bullets
Organist on Kansas - Point of No Return
Billy Preston
Todd Rundgren
Joe Walsh - James Gang Live - Take a Look Around/Tend My Garden)

Of all of the above, my tone, style, and licks probably tend to sound
patterned after Justman, he always sounded like he was having a blast
playing with Geils, and I suppose Peter Wolf and Magic Dick would
bring that out in a live performeance. (I saw them twice way back
when.) Also, after seeing Kansas PONR tour, I started blocking up the
rear corners of my C-3 and played standing up. I saw Joe & Gang at
Ohio State Fair 1970 and got the chills during Take/Tend. Switched
to organ from bass shortly thereafter. Even though he's already been
mentioned, Greg Allman was a HUGE influence, affecting my playing,
singing, and contributed heavily to my decision to cut back a few
notches on my partying (didn't want to be EXACTLY like him!) Ain't
playing Hammonds (clones now) a hoot? We're just one big happy
family.
