I suspect it may be partly due to the way MIDI data arrives. There is
something very organic about the way my (new) CX3 responds to my percussive
slaps on the keyboard. I have heard that Korg paid close attention to the
fact that there are nine separate switches closing on each key and modeled
that behavior.

Just thinking out loud, no real facts here...
