Subject:first gig..
well, last night i did my first gig with keys ever.. so i now officially
join the ranks of people who really need a clone, as opposed to the
curious observer i once was.. it was quite a lot of fun - i wish i had
started this earlier.. my rig consisted of a rhodes stage 73 with my
yamaha cs1x sitting on top (used exclusively as a controller, it was
lighter than my an1x and more expendible in case of accidents) with a voce
v5.. both the voce and rhodes went through a 2-channel class a tube
preamp.. the voce signal went into an old pro-3 and both the rhodes and
pro-3 out went into a '68 twin reverb..
i had resolved long ago to have a better setup in place making as few
compromises as possible - i would have liked a real leslie, for example..
however, the sound was not bad at all, i found a good set of eq and
balance that was warm and realistic, and it sounded great in a band
context.. the only problem i had was that i forgot an expression pedal, so
all my volume changes had to be done via the v5 volume knob while playing,
which made it interesting.. add to this that i made a whopping $50, making
the net $42 after parking.. i only need to gig about 85 more times to pay
for my gear! :)
anyhow, hats off to mr. fisher and mr. amels!
