If you're looking for a very portable pedal solution, the PK-5 takes
up virtually no space and is very light yet very tough - roughly the
same size as the Pro-3T, so it is a good compromise (for a while -
see below). It also has "soft-thru" on the MIDI input so you don't
need to carry a merger to use it with an XB-2/V-5 etc (the VK-7 has
two MIDI inputs).
I used to take a PK-5 around but after one gig on console pedals I
knew the PK-5 would be relegated to the cupboard even though they
seem to fill the whole car - the console pedals changed the whole
feel of the instrument even though it is based around a single
manual clone.
Pedals do make sure you get extra attention on a gig if nothing
else. There is always a lot of interest around those funny bits of
wood on the floor, and that funny foot hopping across them.
Agree also on options - I covered for the bassist in a rock band one
night when he couldn't make the rehearsal without causing any grief
for the rest of the band - used the orchestral bass voices on the VK-
7 through a separate amp.
