Subject:Clone shopping, round 2

I just went back to Pianos & Stuff near Pittsburgh, to eyeball and play with
the clones a second time, and see what effect NAMM had on their prices. There
were price cuts on the VK-7, Nord (manufacturer cut, not NAMM-related), and
CX-3.

I was a bit better prepared, and found the sourness on the XK-2, both
drawbar-wise and in the Leslie sim )-: After playing both the CX-3 and the
Nord, I think I really like the Nord better musically.

I spoke for a while with one of the sales staff - he said the only people
that bought the XK-2 there, bought it for the Hammond name. He also said the
BX-3 doesn't exist yet, because there are software issues. He also felt that
if I liked the interface (drawbuttons vs drawbars, etc) that I'd be happier
with the Nord, he preferred the Leslie sim and tone ... the presets looked
easy enough to program in, it'd take getting used to working more than one
button at a time though. They stock the 61, if I want the 73 they have to
order it (I'm thinking about it, less need to carry a 2nd keyboard with a
bigger "split" range).
