I'm not suggesting that they are the same. I am trying to point out that one
of the major changes between the VK-7 and the VK-8 is that Roland
significantly reduced the number of parameters that can be adjusted, and
eliminated the display screen completely. I can only assume that market
research showed them that the majority of users don't tweak the parameters to
their taste. That conclusion would surprise me, but it is the only
explanation, other than simply trying to cut costs, that I can find for the
reduction in adjustable variables. If you consider tweakable parameters to
be a key variable, then the reduction on the VK-8 makes it closer to the
Electro, which also has few tweakable parameters. The VK-7 and the VK-77
both have lots of tweak potential, which is curiously absent from the VK-8.
