Subject:Re: XK2 vs. VK7 vs. CX3

Hi everyone,

I like the VK7 especially since the price came down. I bought the CX3 at top
dollar. If I hadn't, I may have bought the VK7 and I would have been
disappointed because I don't buy a specialized item like this everyday.
The bottom line for me is that when closing my eyes the VK7 doesn't sound
like a Hammond B3. I don't mean playing it and listening, but just listening.
Its kind of light and mechanical. To me the sounds are quality but they
aren't ballsy. They seem to be an interpretation of what a Hammond-like
instrument sounds like.
I bought the CX3 and when I first turn it on and put one finger to a note,
something in the back of my mind brings me right back to my B3 days. For me,
the B3 "clicks" with what I remember a B3 sounding like.
Also the layout, the 2 DB and the vibrato/chrous make it the one for me.
Again, I'm glad I didn't fall into the price rational and bought one.

This of course is my . 02.

BTW, the exposed board on the bottom is not a con. You never see it. A
keyboard has to be made of something.....why not particle board. I just
bought a Motif 7. Absolutely the best keyboard for onboard sequencing and
sampling I've ever bought. I prefer it to my K2000S fully decked. But its
silver which I detest! So.......

Thanks....didn't mean to flame if you think I did.
