I think it's a great idea. This would rectify the big problem with the "tell
the list only once" policy: if you're new, you missed that one announcement,
and may not find out who on the list is offering something that you want.
This way there would be a permanent place to find such info. A "caveat
emptor" and an annual updating to remove the outdated entries and it should
work great.

information about vendors who belong to the list? There isn't enough room
to put big flyers and such, but we could easily accommodate a short
description of the products or services, along with contacts, and a link to
the real website. That way, if a list member was looking for information,
they would know where to find it.
