Subject:Re: Native Inst. B4: LIVE??

I'm currently trying to get rid of my rack and replace
it with a Dell CPi PII-400 laptop running Windows
2000. Here are the issues I'm wrestling with:

1) Multiple instrument setup. I use other sounds
aside from organs, and need to be able to easily
switch from one to the other from my MIDI controller.
This requires running a host program for VST/DirectX
instruments. I just picked up a copy of Cakewalk Home
Studio 2002, and am so far pretty happy with the
stability and response time. Haven't tried using it
live yet, but it looks good so far.

2) Latency. I've gotten pretty good response time
from the onboard sound card, but it's still not quite
as fast as dedicated hardware. I'm going to look into
getting a USB audio interface like the M-Audio
Audiosport Quattro, that comes from a company that
makes hardware specifically for musicians. Anyone
else have experience with this or other USB audio
interfaces?
