Subject:Question for Hammond owners ...

... which, unfortunately, doesn't include this author. :^(

A stock B-3/C-3/A-100/M-3 drops the level of the drawbar outputs when Normal percussion is selected. I'm curious as to exactly how much it drops, but I haven't found it anywhere on the Web, and I don't have a real TG organ to test. Some of you may have already done a similar test, and know the answer; if not, here is what I propose:

1. Set the upper "B" drawbars to 88 8000 000 with Normal, Fast, 3rd percussion.

2. Set the upper "Bb" drawbars to some setting that you think is equivalent to the volume drop, like 66 6000 000.

3. Hold a 3- or 4-note chord on the upper manual with your right hand, and toggle between the B and Bb drawbars. Neglecting the ping from the percussion circuit, if your Bb setting is right, the two outputs should sound the same, or very nearly so.

4. Change the Bb drawbar settings by one step (77 7000 000, etc.) and repeat steps 1-3.

Let me know what you hear/see. I think the correct answer is 66 6000 000, but I'm not sure.

TIA,

-BW
